At the 18th International Symposium in Management (SIM Conference), hosted by the Politehnica University of Timișoara, Špela Dermol presented a paper titled “Industrial Symbiosis in the Pulp and Paper Industry,” co-authored with Valerij Dermol.
The presentation explored how industrial symbiosis, digital learning, and innovation can work together to promote a more sustainable and circular pulp and paper industry. By combining environmental awareness with digital transformation, the study highlighted how knowledge exchange and collaboration can accelerate the shift towards greener industrial practices.
This topic aligns with the broader mission of Dermol Digital Business Solutions, which is to actively support European initiatives that connect sustainability, education, and digital technologies.
The presentation was carried out with the support of two European projects — SymbioTech and FREINDS.
SymbioTech, a project uniting 11 partners from across Europe, focuses on promoting industrial symbiosis, digital innovation, and sustainability through collaborative research and practical applications. We are really proud to be partners in this excellent project!
The FREINDS project complements this effort by strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of digital education and sustainable development.
Together, these initiatives show how innovation and education can drive the transition toward a smarter, more sustainable future.
