From 22 to 25 September 2025, the representatives of Dermol – Prof. Dr. Valerij Dermol, Mag. Alenka Dermol, and Mag. Špela Dermol – took part in the Open Asia project meeting and forum, held in Kota Kinabalu on the island of Borneo (Malaysia) and hosted by Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The event brought together partners from Europe and Asia to develop new approaches to promoting open science and sharing best practices.

As part of the meeting, the Dermol representatives also presented the project EDU4PlastiCircular, which focuses on developing green skills in higher education institutions and businesses, as well as raising awareness of the circular economy for plastics. The project was highlighted as a good practice example, showcasing its innovative approach to combining sustainability topics with digital education.

Particular interest was raised by the free online course available on the open platform elearningproject.eu. The course is designed for higher education teachers, students, managers, and employees who want to enhance their knowledge about plastics in the circular and neutral economy and develop the green skills needed for the future.

The participation of Dermol representatives in Malaysia further strengthened international cooperation and provided an opportunity to present best practices developed in Slovenia and the wider European community to Asian partners.
