On April 24, 2025, the team from DERMOL svetovanje co-organised an international webinar titled “Digital Industrial Symbiosis: Advancing Sustainability and Innovation” as part of the Erasmus+ project FReINDs. The event brought together more than 130 participants from across Europe—representing academia, business, and public institutions—all eager to explore how digital tools and cross-sector collaboration can accelerate the shift toward a more sustainable, circular economy.
DERMOL played a dual role in this event—as an organising partner and as an active partner in two Erasmus+ projects featured in the webinar: EDU4PlastiCircular and SymbioTech.
From the SymbioTech project, Evangelos Psomas (University of Patras, Greece) delivered a presentation titled “Industrial Symbiosis Readiness: The Case of the Greek Food Sector,” offering practical insights into how traditional industries are beginning to embrace digital industrial symbiosis and circular models.
From the EDU4PlastiCircular project, two engaging presentations were featured:
- “Education for Plastic in Circular Economy” – presented by experts from Politehnica University of Timisoara and Transilvania University of Brasov (Romania), focused on digital learning tools and educational methods designed to strengthen green skills in the plastics sector.
- “Building Global Impact through Microplastics Awareness and Local Actions” – delivered by Anja Bubik (Faculty of Environmental Protection, Velenje, Slovenia), highlighted the power of local educational initiatives in addressing the global issue of microplastic pollution.
The DERMOL team was heavily involved not only in coordinating the logistics and promotion of the webinar but also in shaping its content and building connections across projects and sectors. The high attendance and active participation confirmed growing interest in the intersection of education, sustainability, and digital transformation.
At DERMOL, we are proud to contribute to impactful knowledge-sharing initiatives through our involvement in projects like SymbioTech and EDU4PlastiCircular, helping to accelerate Europe’s transition to a green and circular future.
